According to Football Insider, Liverpool are considering a move for 20-year-old Ajax defender Devyne Rensch as Jurgen Klopp wants to strengthen his backline.
The Netherlands international, who has made nine appearances for the struggling Eredivisie club this season (in all competitions), is also thought to be a target for Arsenal.
He’s a versatile alternative that our German tactician will like. He is mostly used at right-back, but he can also play opposite full-back, central defence, and midfield.
The Lelystad-born player is under contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until the summer of 2025, but Liverpool are looking to strengthen their defensive options in January, according to the report.
Andy Robertson is now out with a shoulder injury, and the Merseyside club are also short of options at right-back if Trent Alexander-Arnold is injured.
While Joel Matip’s contract at Anfield expires in the summer, Joe Gomez can cover in both full-back positions if necessary.
With Klopp’s team having had a promising start to the season, it will be intriguing to watch what business we accomplish in the summer.
