Anfield pundit Neil Mellor has lauded Liverpool player Alexis MacAllister.

Mellor claims the 24-year-old Reds ace is a “magnificent” and “brave” talent on the Review Show.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool last summer for a rumoured fee of £35 million, which could rise to £55 million.

So far, the 24-year-old has performed admirably at Anfield, starting all of the Reds’ Premier League games.

Mac Allister has been impressive for Liverpool while playing at No. 6, which is not his primary position.

In the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, for example, the Argentina international was routinely contributing with strong tackles.

In addition, the Liverpool star was excellent at reading the game, passing the ball, and generally keeping things moving.

“Alexis clocked the most distance for Liverpool during the game and he is a very clever player but a very brave player as well,” Mellor remarked on the Review Show, according to the Liverpool website.

“You need players like that, can stop a counter-attack and then want to make that pass in between the lines, and his influence out there was clear to see, he was magnificent.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp struck gold when he signed Mac Allister. Even in an unfamiliar position, he has been outstanding for the Reds.

While it appears that Mac Allister can stay at No. 6 indefinitely, it will be interesting to see how he performs if he moves up. For example, imagine Liverpool signing a new defensive midfielder.

Overall, the Reds did well in the transfer market this summer while revamping their midfield. This occurred under difficult conditions, as two important midfielders unexpectedly left.

Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo all performed admirably. It will be interesting to observe how they – and the rest of the Liverpool team – progress.
