On Wednesday night, Liverpool travelled to the Vitality Stadium in search of a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The Reds complied, with Cody Gakpo putting Liverpool ahead before Justin Kluivert equalised for Bournemouth.

Darwin Nunez won it, curling in a fantastic winner to set up a December clash with West Ham United.

Klopp, predictably, adjusted his lineup for this game, perceiving an opportunity to rotate and bring in marginal players.

Quansah, a defender who replaced Joel Matip on the Liverpool back line, was one of the newcomers.

As Liverpool advanced, Quansah racked up seven clearances, two interceptions, and one tackle.

This season, the 20-year-old has shown a lot of promise, and Klopp was taken away by his performance against the Cherries.

Quansah was’really good’ against Bournemouth, according to Klopp, and his quality was ‘clear’.

Klopp described Quansah’s performance as “wow,” adding that he was “top” both defending in difficult conditions and with the ball at his feet.

“That’s the other thing which was obvious: that he was really good,” Klopp remarked. “Wow, in these conditions. Where is it going to fall with so many challenging balls to judge and estimate? He performed admirably. Caoimhin [Kelleher] gave him a lot of ball on the ball, so let’s see what he can do. He did exceptionally well there. Yes, top game, without a doubt,” he continued.

Quansah adds depth to Liverpool’s defence

Virgil van Dijk is a great defender for Liverpool, but he is 32, and younger options are needed to complement him.

Matip might go in 2024, Joe Gomez hasn’t really taken off, and doubts about Ibrahima Konate’s injury record linger.

Liverpool had loaned out Nat Phillips, Sepp van den Berg, and Rhys Williams, thus they needed a youth to step up.

Quansah has done precisely that, particularly after impressing on loan at Bristol Rovers last season.
