Paul Merson admits he’s serveral times ‘blown away’ by 23-year-old Liverpool star this season

Paul Merson has stated that Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool is his new favorite Premier League player.

Szoboszlai has made an immediate impact since joining Liverpool this summer. The 23-year-old signed from RB Leipzig and has looked like he’s been playing for Liverpool his entire life.

Merson admits this in his Premier League predictions for Sportskeeda this week. The analyst predicts a 3-0 win for the Reds over Luton Town on Sunday and singles out Szoboszlai as one to watch.

“Dominik Szoboszlai, on the other hand, has been my favourite player in the Premier League this season – he’s been absolutely outstanding!” The former England midfielder gushed.

“He’s come into a brand new league for a huge fee and settled in quicker than snow, that is some achievement.”

‘Settled quicker than snow,’ says Merson, and we might steal it. It shows how successfully Szoboszlai has adjusted to life in Liverpool.

The importance of playing in the Premier League for players may be overestimated at times.

Although it is slightly faster and more severe than other leagues throughout the world, top level football is, to some extent, top level football.

Good players can always transfer their abilities from one division to the next.

But that may be the most important point here. How many players come in and light things up who have never played in England before?

Although the list is likely not all that long, it is often confined to the best of the best.

Erling Haaland, Szobo’s Manchester City teammate, accomplished it, and from a Liverpool perspective, Mohamed Salah and Fernando Torres come to mind.

But we’re talking about truly world-class, top-tier stars here. To genuinely add his name to that list, Szoboszlai will need to continue showing himself for much longer than he has so far.

Given everything we’ve seen of the Hungarian since August, we’d be fools not to believe he can achieve all of that and more.
