Liverpool are seriously monitoring for new center-back

Man United has reportedly already marked one possibility for when they start their search for a center-half in 2019.

If Manchester United chooses to make a bid for Goncalo Inacio, a defender for Sporting Lisbon, they are expected to face off against Liverpool, according to reports.

With two goals in his four Portugal games, the center defender has helped his team remain unbeaten this season and top the Portuguese league. During the next two transfer windows, it’s anticipated that both Liverpool and United would look to add a new center back.

The Mirror says that United wants to sign Inacio, but Klopp sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old back play for his country against Bosnia and Herzegovina last week.

The player is managed by the same group as Bruno Fernandes, and Miguel Pinho, the agent, is in charge of making the club captain’s move to Old Trafford happen in 2020. On the other hand, Sporting is said to not want to let him leave in January.

It wouldn’t be cheap to get Inacio. He has already played 129 times for his current team and signed a new deal in August that keeps him there until 2027. It looks like United will make a lot of choices about center backs in the next six months.

Harry Maguire has said that he might look for a new club before Euro 2024 if he stays low on the ladder. This could mean that he gets more playing time since Lisandro Martinez won’t be back until next year.

As of right now, MEN Sport knows that United will honor Victor Lindelof’s one-year deal extension. Jonny Evans, 35, agreed to an unexpectedly short 12-month deal on the last day of the deadline. The club will have to decide what to do with him by the summer of the following year.

Also, Dutch reporter Mikos Gouka said that Mitchell van der Gaag, who works as Erik ten Hag’s helper, probably won’t leave United’s coaching staff to become a coach at Ajax because of how bad their season has been.

They are now in the relegation zone after losing to FC Utrecht, which is the worst team in the league. Sources say that the club is thinking about putting Van de Gaag in place of current boss Maurice Steijn.

Gouka doesn’t think the former boss of Ajax’s youth team will quit his job at Old Trafford to go back to Amsterdam. He moved to Manchester with Ten Hag in 2022.
