Alisson linked Luis Diaz’s “difficult moment” to his own problems following the gone of his father two years ago.
Diaz made his first public appearance since his parents were kidnapped by a rebel group in Colombia on Sunday, with his father still missing. The forward came off the bench to equalize for Liverpool against struggling Luton Town in injury time.
He then presented an emotional message of “Freedom for Papa” as he hailed his accomplishment. The situation was similar to when Alisson scored a stunning goal for the Reds when they visited West Brom in May 2021.
With all four minutes of injury time remaining, the goalie went up for a corner and miraculously headed in. Alisson was overcome with emotion after the game as he spoke of his father, who ɗieɗ in February.
Jose Becker ɗieɗ abruptly, and Alisson only missed one game as a result. And Alisson remembers that gloomy period as he expressed his hope that Diaz may find some solace in scoring his key goal.
“It reveals a lot about his character and inner strength.” I doubt many people can comprehend what he is going through right now. Even though we are close to him, we support him and experience his suffering, but it’s a different level for him,” he told Sky Sports.
“Football can bring joy to people, can bring joy to someone who is struggling, and I believe football is bringing a slice of joy to Lucho at this time.” We are there for him to take his time with whatever he requires.
“He came, trained, came to the game, scored a fantastic goal for us that was very important, and we are completely behind him.” Football always surprises, sometimes in a good way. It happened to me during a particularly trying period.
“It happened today, and it has happened before for other people.” When you’re on the pitch, I believe you’re completely focused on the task at hand. I believe he was focused on doing this to assist the team in gaining points, and he did it for us.”
Following the game, Diaz issued an impassioned speech pleading for his father’s release. He is being detained by the ELN guerrilla group, and the Colombian government is negotiating his release in the midst of a large police search.
“This isn’t the player speaking. Lucho Daz is the son of Lus Manuel Daz. Mane, my father, a hardworking man and a family pillar, has been kidnapped. “I request that ELN release my father as soon as possible,” he stated.
“I also request that international organizations work on this to ensure his freedom.” Every second, every minute, we get more concerned. We have no words to convey our family’s dreadful feelings, and they will continue to be the same as long as he is not returned home.
“I beg you to release my father immediately while maintaining his integrity.” I’d want to thank all Colombians and the international community for their support. This goal is to free my father and all other kidnapped people in my country. Thank you so much for your help.”
