Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lauded Kostas Tsimikas for his two assists in Sunday’s win over Brentford.
Jurgen Klopp thinks he observed a significant difference in Kostas Tsimikas when he recorded his first assist in Liverpool’s win over Brentford.
After a difficult week, the Reds were expecting a major response.
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw against Luton Town before losing away at Toulouse in the Europa League.
However, Liverpool delivered on Sunday, defeating Brentford 3-0 thanks to two Mohamed Salah goals and a Diogo Jota strike.
After Liverpool’s victory, Jurgen Klopp praised Kostas Tsimikas.
Salah will undoubtedly get the credit, but left back Tsimikas was crucial with two assists.
The Greek left back crossed for Salah to head home his second goal before setting up Jota for the third.
This was a terrific example of Tsimikas’ aggressive surge, and Klopp was impressed.
Klopp informed Liverpool’s official website that he witnessed a significant improvement in Tsimikas after his first assist.
Klopp believes Tsimikas gained confidence after that moment and contributed to the Reds’ ‘top quality’ team performance.
“Kostas Tsimikas, [for] example, we all could see the difference between Kosti before the assist and after the assist,” Klopp went on to say. “That’s football and life.” It’s beneficial if you receive positive feedback, and an assist is clearly positive feedback. So, extremely important, and a lot of players, basically all players, performed at a high level today, and I’m very pleased,” he continued.
Tsimikas required this boost
Tsimikas is currently in the starting lineup because Andrew Robertson is out with a shoulder injury.
The Scot may not return until early 2023, which means Tsimikas will fill in for the foreseeable future.
We know Tsimikas can attack well, but his defending occasionally falls short.
Tsimikas made a major mistake against Toulouse on Thursday, which appeared to shake his confidence.
Tsimikas’ two assists against Brentford could provide him with a timely lift, especially with Premier League champions Manchester City on the horizon.
