Man Utd Faces £87M Transfer Bid for Bruno Fernandes as Saudi Clubs Seek Portuguese Star

Reports suggest that Manchester United may receive a significant offer for Bruno Fernandes from Saudi Arabia. Fernandes has been a key player for United under manager Erik ten Hag, and his performances have helped the team achieve notable results despite a turbulent season.

According to Fichajes, several Saudi Pro League clubs are closely monitoring Fernandes, and they are prepared to make a staggering offer of €100 million (£87 million) to secure the 29-year-old midfielder’s services in the upcoming summer transfer window. Representatives from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns 80% of Newcastle United, are reportedly set to hold talks with Fernandes’ entourage.

The Public Investment Fund controls four of Saudi Arabia’s prominent teams, including Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ittihad. They have previously signed renowned players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Neymar, and Riyad Mahrez for their respective clubs.

Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2020 in a deal worth up to £60 million. Since then, he has made a significant impact, accumulating 68 goals and 57 assists in 201 appearances for the club. Due to his consistent performances, Fernandes was awarded the captain’s armband following Harry Maguire’s struggles.

In the current season, Fernandes has continued to impress, contributing four goals and three assists in 16 appearances across all competitions. He is also expected to play a crucial role for Portugal in the upcoming Euro 2024 under the management of Roberto Martinez.

While it is common for players who move to Saudi Arabia to continue representing their national teams, as seen with Jordan Henderson, who joined Al-Ettifaq last summer but remаins an integral part of England’s squad under Gareth Southgate’s leadership.
