18 Liverpool players on international duty, 10 miss out

Liverpool’s senior side has seen 18 players called up for international action in November, with 10 others missing out due to injury.

The Reds finished the season with a 3-0 win over Brentford at Anfield before the year’s final international break.

It was much-needed after disappointing defeats against Luton Town and Toulouse, with Jurgen Klopp’s team now building momentum ahead of their game with Manchester City.

However, there will be other qualifications and friendlies across the world before the journey to the Etihad, with 18 first-team players called up.

Both Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo are in the Netherlands squad, which will face Caoimhin Kelleher’s Republic of Ireland.

Alisson will join Brazil and replace Ederson, who was injured, while Alexis MacAllister and Darwin Nunez will also head to South America with Argentina and Uruguay.

Luis Diaz, who returns to Colombia for the first time since rescuing his parents from kidnappers, joins the long-distance adventure.

Mohamed Salah will skipper Egypt in the opposite way, while Wataru Endo will return to Japan.

Closer to home, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the lone Liverpool player in the England team, with Dominik Szoboszlai (Hungary), Diogo Jota (Portugal), and Kostas Tsimikas (Greece) all featuring.

Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are both with the England U21s, along with loanee Tyler Morton.

Luke Chambers has been called up to the England U20s, while Calum Scanlon has returned to the England U19s, and Ben Doak has been called up to the Scotland U21s.

Marcelo Pitaluga makes his debut for the Brazil U23s, while Owen Beck and Tom Hill play for Wales U21s, Kieran Morrison for Northern Ireland U19s, and Trent Kone-Doherty for the Republic of Ireland U19s.

Liverpool also has Keyrol Figueroa, a teenage striker, representing the United States in the U17 World Cup in Indonesia, as well as four additional players at the U16 Victory Shield.

Wales has called up Prince Kobe Cisse and Jayden Allmark for the competition, while Northern Ireland has Harry Moran and Scotland has Cameron Williams.

The majority of the first-team players who were not on duty were out due to injury, including the most recent absentee, Ibrahima Konate.
