Jarrod Bowen has been dubbed ‘the claret and blue Mo Salah’ by one former Premier League striker, amid speculation that he might become the new Liverpool talisman.
Liverpool may soon be obliged to sign a new right winger. Salah has been fantastic for them since joining to Anfield in 2017, scoring 198 goals in 322 games. Salah, on the other hand, is widely regarded as the top target for Saudi Pro League executives looking to elevate the league to the next level.
In the summer, Al Ittihad submitted a massive £150 million deal for the Egyptian, but Liverpool turned it down. There was talk of a mind-blowing second offer worth £215 million, but it never came.
Liverpool made the correct option in keeping Salah, since he is once again their main source of goals this season. Salah has scored 12 goals in 17 games this season across all competitions.
However, Liverpool are expecting to receive another bid for the 31-year-old at the conclusion of the season, with Al Ittihad keen to bring him to the Middle East.
Salah is rumored to be ignoring Al Ittihad once more and extending his Liverpool contract until June 2025.
Despite that encouraging news, Liverpool officials must prepare for Salah’s departure, as they will require a top forward to step in and replace him almost immediately.
Bayern star Leroy Sane, Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and PSV’s Johan Bakayoko have all been mentioned as possible successors.
Jarrod Bowen has received a lot of praise in the midst of Liverpool rumors.
Tony Cascarino, a former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker, has outlined why West Ham attacker Bowen is the greatest match for the post.
The Englishman is ‘not far behind Salah,’ and his potential new Liverpool teammates will be able to ‘exploit’ his ability to keep numerous defenders busy at the same time.
“I think they’ve got the claret and blue Mo Salah in Jarrod Bowen,” Cascarino remarked on The Game podcast.
“He’s just another of those players who will score goals.” He’ll be running all day.
“Obviously, Mo Salah is at an incredible level, but he [Bowen] isn’t far behind him in terms of tenacity and drive to score goals.” He creates issues for other players to take advantage of.”
Bowen is not quite on Salah’s level in terms of goal scoring this season, with nine goals from 16 appearances. However, he is already used to controlling the show for West Ham, which will help him become Liverpool’s talisman.
Bowen’s stats this season are very impressive. He is not just West Ham’s leading scorer, but also their finest performer, with a WhoScored average rating of 7.34.
Bowen leads the West Ham chart in shots per game (2.8), while he shares the lead in dribbles per game (1.6) with Lucas Paqueta.
If Liverpool are unable to replace Salah, the former Hull City star is definitely an excellent option. The only issue is that they would have to spend a lot of money to reach an agreement, as West Ham had extended Bowen’s contract until June 2030.
