It’s been nearly a decade since Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook parted ways with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but seeing them on the same court is still a treat for fans. While fans may believe it is still special, Durant has moved on.
When the Clippers faced the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook all shared the court together for the first time since the Oklahoma City Thunder big three days. Durant has moved on from those times, but he remembers them warmly.
“No, there ain’t nothing “more special.” It is always the case. “I feel like I’ve been competing against these guys on other teams for the last ten years,” Durant remarked. “So, seeing these guys again is no longer special; it’s just another opponent.” We have mutual regard for one another. We’ll never forget those early moments in the league because I believe a lot of clubs and franchises in sports looked at that young team and saw something to imitate.”
Regardless of how acrimonious the Oklahoma City Thunder breakup was, all three members are now old enough to remember those times fondly. To let go of their ego-driven youth and simply be grateful that it happened.
“So, it was a special time for me,” Durant explained. “I’m not sure how everyone else feels about that time, but it was a special, special time for me, and I always loved playing with those guys.” So it’s encouraging to see them have some success and remain in the league after 16, 15, 17 years. That’s always entertaining to witness.”
Seeing Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook on the same court together will always be spectacular, regardless of age. They’re perhaps the best big three that never won an NBA title together.
