Mohamed Salah had a sensational performance as he scored four goals to lead Egypt to a resounding 6-0 victory over Djibouti in their World Cup qualifying campaign. Algeria, considered the favorites in their group, managed a 3-1 home win over Somalia in Algiers. However, their performance left room for improvement, as coach Djamel Belmadi made halftime substitutions, including taking off star players Riyad Mahrez and Amine Gouiri, in an attempt to inject new energy into the struggling team.
Gabоn staged a cоmeback tо defeat Kenya 2-1, with Denis Bоuanga equalizing and Guelоr Kanga scоring a late winner in Franceville. The African qualifiers will continue in June, with nine groups vying for a direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The four best runners-up will also have a chance to secure their spot through a two-tier playoff system.
