Mohamed Salah Saves Egypt with Last-Minute Penalty, Securing a 2-2 Draw against Mozambique at the Africa Cup of Nations. In their opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt, a seven-time AFCON champion, took an early lead thanks to Mostafa Mohamed. Egypt started the game with great determination and found themselves in front just two minutes into the match. Salah received a cross and, although his shot was not cleanly struck, it fortuitously fell to Mohamed, who skillfully turned past Edmilson Dove and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Witi came close to equalizing when he sliced his shot wide, and Egypt had another excellent opportunity to extend their lead as Mahmoud Trezeguet struck the ball against the post.

Following a poor attempted clearance from Mohamed Hamdy, Mohamed El Shenawy, the goalkeeper for the Pharaohs, had to react quickly, tipping the ball over the bar to maintain his team’s lead.

Mozambique continued to push forward in the second half and eventually found their reward in the 55th minute. Domingos Macandza’s cross found Witi, who headed the ball into the bottom corner. El Shenawy managed to get a hand to it but was unable to keep it out.

Witi came agonizingly close to equalizing when his shot veered wide, leaving Egypt relieved. The Pharaohs had another golden opportunity to extend their lead when Mahmoud Trezeguet’s powerful strike struck the post, denying them a bigger advantage.

However, Mozambique refused to relent and continued to press forward in the second half. Their persistence paid off in the 55th minute when Domingos Macandza delivered a precise cross into the box. Witi rose above the Egyptian defense and expertly headed the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Despite Mohamed El Shenawy’s valiant effort to reach the ball, he couldn’t prevent it from crossing the goal line.VVVVV
