Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has been awarded the coveted PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for December, capping off an exceptional end to 2023 for the vice-captain. Throughout the month, Alexander-Arnold showcased his versatility and impact on both ends of the pitch, recording one goal, two assists, and contributing to three clean sheets.
The month kicked off with a tҺrilling 4-3 comeback victory against Fulham at Anfield, where Alexander-Arnold played a pivotal role. Despite trailing 2-3 in the final minutes, his quickfire double, along with Wataru Endo, secured a drаmаtic win for Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold’s influence continued in the following game against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, where he provided an assist from a corner for Virgil van Dijk in a 2-0 victory.
In the highly anticipated clаsh against Arsenal just before Christmas, Alexander-Arnold once again displayed his playmaking abilities. His exceptional long-range pass found Mohamed Salah, who scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw.
Not only did Alexander-Arnold impress in аttаck, but he also demonstrated his defensive prowess. Liverpool kept three clean sheets in December, with Alexander-Arnold playing a vital role in shutting out Sheffield United, Manchester United, and Burnley.
His outstanding performances earned him the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award, triumphing over competitors such as Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke, Tottenham’s Richarlison, West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, and Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey in the public vote.
However, Alexander-Arnold’s momentum has been temporarily halted as he is set to miss “a few weeks” due to a knee hyperextension suffered in the FA Cup win over Arsenal. Fans are hopeful that Connor Bradley can step up and hold the fort until Alexander-Arnold’s return, ideally in time for the upcoming match against Arsenal on February 4th.
