Paolo Banchero scored 26 points to help the Orlando Magic defeat the Phoenix Suns 113-98 on Sunday night, overcoming Devin Booker’s 44-point performance two days after he had 62 in a loss at Indiana.
Phoenix spent more than eight minutes without a field goal in the fourth quarter, dropping its second consecutive game following a seven-game winning streak.
Booker shot 17 of 26 from the field, making one of two three-pointers and nine of eleven free throws. However, he scored only two points in the Suns’ 11-point fourth quarter.
Moritz Wagner tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds for Orlando. Markelle Fultz had 14 points and five steals, while Franz Wagner finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
Kevin Durant scored 15 points for the Suns, who set a franchise record of six consecutive games with 40-point scorers.
The Suns made 18 of their first 24 shots, including Durant’s deep jumper that gave them a 13-point lead, their highest of the game, at the opening of the second quarter.
Booker concluded his 21-point third quarter by scoring the Suns’ final seven points, but the Magic pulled ahead after he sat out the opening four minutes of the fourth quarter.
Just after Booker returned to the game, Franz Wagner hit a 3-pointer to put the Magic up 97-92, and Jonathan Isaac added another to make it 104-94 with 3:59 remaining. The Suns shot 56% overall but had 23 turnovers.
Jusuf Nurkic, the Phoenix center, sat out due to a sprained left thumb.
