Mohamed Salah has returned to Liverpool training as he nears his return from injury.
Salah has not played for the club since departing the Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a hamstring injury during Egypt’s tie with Ghana on January 18.
However, footage posted by the club showed the forward back on the grass with his teammates at their training field, with Joe Gomez, Alisson, and Conor Bradley.
Liverpool’s next Premier League game comes at Brentford on Saturday, and manager Jurgen Klopp hinted before the weekend win over Burnley that Salah could return at the Gtech Community Stadium.
“Mo is going in the right direction,” Klopp stated on Friday. “We hope, but cannot guarantee, that he will be able to participate in some of next week’s training. But we shall see.
“He is going through all of the motions right now, and everything appears to be going well. It is either next week or the week after. If you ask him, it is next week.”
Salah’s comeback would be a welcome boost for Liverpool as they seek to maintain their Premier League lead. Liverpool’s lead has been reduced to two points by Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Salah, who became only the fifth Liverpool player to reach 200 goals in December, hasn’t played since the German announced his resignation as manager at the end of the season.
Liverpool is still chasing four titles and will meet Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, February 25.
