The Suns are 33-22 for the season. They are ranked sixth in the Western Conference rankings. Phoenix is anticipated to challenge for the NBA championship in 2024, led by Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.

Durant is under contract until the 2025–26 season. This season, the two-time champion averages 28.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists while shooting 53.8% from the field, 44.3% from beyond the arc, and 87.1% from the foul line.

Durant, the two-time Finals MVP, is making $46.4 million this season. He will earn $49.9 million next season and $53.3 million in 2025-26.

If the Suns do not sign Durant to an extension, the future Hall of Famer will be an unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026.

Durant formerly played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Nets, and Suns. His career averages are 27.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. The 14-time All-Star believes he, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, and Warriors star Stephen Curry can all play into their forties.

“I was just trying to get to 10 years in the league, and that was my goal,” Durant told Michael Lee of The Washington Post. “But then you go to nine or eight, and you’re like, ‘I feel amazing right now. “I can keep going.”

The Suns were defeated in six games by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals of 2023. It will be interesting to see how far Durant and company go in the 2024 postseason.
