JBL and Vivendii are launching a special fashion collection focused on Afrobeats. Vivendii’s Afrobeats Capsule Collection combines their signature gradient, tie-dye-inspired style with JBL’s vibrant, eye-catching colors. It is inspired by traditional Nigerian plastic buckets and bowls, as well as JBL’s iconic orange.
The collection comprises a t-shirt, tracksuit, jacket, and backpack, as well as a striped football jersey inspired by Virgil van Dijk and the growing popularity of personalized jerseys. Special variants of some of JBL’s most popular products, such as the JBL PartyBox 310 and JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi, feature eye-catching colors that complement the apparel line designs.
Why is there such a significant drop? “Music and fashion are inextricably linked.” Afrobeats allows young people to express themselves freely, so discovering its music and clothes alongside our ambassador and Afrobeats fan, Virgil van Dijk, was an exciting experience for us. The Vivendii team’s work encourages self-expression and elevates the voices of sub-genres and cultures. This conveniently matches with JBL’s ideals, making this partnership an excellent fit.” Robert-Jan van Dormael is HARMAN’s Vice President of Integrated Marketing for EMEA.
“It’s all about the way people express themselves,” Vivendii’s Jimmy Ayeni explained. “Every collection we’ve designed has a soundtrack, and this collaboration with JBL is no exception.” We try to merge our musical expressions into fashion.”
Van Dijk is joined in this short film by Vivendii founders Jimmy Ayeni and Ola Badiru as they explore the world of Afrobeats, as well as Dutch singer Amartey and Nigerian artist Deto Black, who help Virgil go deeper into the genre.
