The Nike KD 16 debuted in early 2023 and quickly became a favorite among hoopers around the country because to its accessibility and unparalleled comfort. We’ve seen rising talents like Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama imitate the “Slim Reaper” and sport his sneakers during games. Colorways such as “Wanda” and “Boardroom” became immensely popular, making it a memorable iteration for as long as it is relevant.

However, this new Nike KD 17 represents an entirely fresh perspective and silhouette for the Kevin Durant line, and fans are already clamouring for more colorways to arrive. Sneaker account @knowing_kicks just shared the first detailed look at the sneakers, both on-foot and in-hand.

Nike KD 17 “Sunrise”

The first looks at the new Nike KD 17 give us a good sense of what Nike is going for with these. Clearly, they’re back to selecting a low-cut sneaker for Durant, and this iteration appears to be lighter than his last model. Immediately, the molded design on the support system stands out with a wavy, modern style that mimics the rhythm of many basketball sneakers on the market.

The shoes include an icy outsole and a ‘KD’ holographic emblem on the tongue. The initial “Sunrise” colorway is the highlight of this sneaker. The shoes have a gradient red-to-yellow and yellow-to-white transition along the uppers, giving them a bright look. The blue design along the midsole provides an ocean vibe to shoes and complements the sunrise motif well.
