Grayson Allen scored 21 points and made 7 of 8 three-pointers in the first quarter of the Phoenix Suns’ 120-113 home victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night. The Suns stated on X (previously Twitter) that Allen’s seven triples set a franchise record for the most threes in a quarter.
The previous record was held by current Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson and former Suns guard Troy Daniels, who each made six three-pointers. Allen is now the only player in Suns history to hold that distinction.
Allen’s record-breaking three-pointer came at the 1:28 mark in the first quarter. He nearly outscored the whole Raptors squad, finishing with 25 points against Phoenix’s 39 during the first 12 minutes. He set the record with an assist from Kevin Durant.
Allen ended up with 28 points, including eight three-pointers. Similar to Wednesday’s game, he cooled off in the second half and missed his final five triples of the night. Nonetheless, the Suns managed to win against a tenacious Raptors team. Despite trailing by 19, Toronto reduced the deficit to three points in the fourth quarter.
Durant led the Suns with 35 points for the second straight night, and Immanuel Quickley almost had a triple double with 21 points, nine rebounds, and a career-high 18 assists.
