Liverpool is ready to pay full price and sign a WONDERFUL USMNT superstar for £35 million

Liverpool has held negotiations with Fulham and USMNT player Antonee Robinson’s representatives, but while they are willing to pay the entire £35 million asking price, they are not the only Premier League big hitter considering a move, according to reports.

Robinson, 26, has quietly grown into one of the Premier League’s most impactful left-backs in recent seasons. The USA international cost just £2 million to sign when he was poached from Wigan Athletic in 2020. Fast forward to the current day, and that deal has proven to be an incredible value for the Cottagers.

Robinson is famed for his marauding runs up and down the left flank, and his limitless energy resembles Andy Robertson.

Neither player is very strong in terms of goal scoring, but both thrive at creating opportunities for others.

This season, Robinson has six Premier League assists as a left back. Opposing defences have struggled to contain his vicious throw from out wide.

As one might assume, his recent performances for club and country have received attention.

Liverpool and Manchester City launch Robinson movements.

According to Italian outlet ASRomaLive, Robinson has emerged as a clear transfer target for both Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to the source, both teams have been in contact with Robinson’s camp, mirroring their rivals’ efforts thus far. Furthermore, City and Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay Fulham’s £35 million asking price this summer.

The obvious issue is why is a Roma-focused source reporting on a possible move between two English clubs?

The answer lies in the idea that Fulham are putting up Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola as Robinson’s successor if the American leaves.

Where might Robinson fit in?

Liverpool already has two established left-backs, Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

However, Robertson turned 30 earlier this month and will not be a true top-tier player indefinitely. Robertson’s game is entirely dependant on his vitality, which may be an issue as he gets older.

Robinson may thus constitute severe competition for the Scot in the present, while simultaneously serving as his long-term successor.

Tsimikas, called the ‘Greek Scouser’ in Liverpool circles, is a cult legend at Anfield, although Robinson is unquestionably a better player.

Manchester City typically use centre-backs Nathan Ake or Josko Gvardiol on the left side of their defence.

However, Pep Guardiola’s tactics are constantly shifting, and Robinson would give significantly more attacking power than Ake and Gvardiol if the City manager devised a new tactical strategy.

TEAMtalk’s sources have also stated that Chelsea would be interested in Robinson if he leaves at the conclusion of the season.
