Frank Vogel echoed what even casual fans could say about the Phoenix Suns’ recent loss to the San Antonio Spurs: “It’s unacceptable to lose that game for our guys.” The Suns, with the NBA’s most talented backcourt, played a Spurs team without Victor Wembanyama. However, the Spurs got out to a fast start on offense and kept the pressure on the defense throughout the game. As a result, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant combined for 65 points, while the rest of the roster scored only 37.
Durant spoke after the game on the Suns’ March 23 victory against the Spurs. Despite Wemby in the lineup, the Suns defeated the Spurs 131-106. He said, “Shouldn’t lose that game, especially after how we beat them last game.” Furthermore, KD points out that the Spurs won the most recent game due to their momentum.
Bradley Beal, in the post-game interview, echoed the team’s dismal effort to the loss. Beal argued that they misread the matches as easy, especially given Wembanyama’s absence.
Devin Booker, on the other hand, had a distinct point of view. When asked about the loss, Book stated, “I’m not into belittling opponents. “These guys are NBA players.” Booker cites disrupted “flow and a lot of overthinking” as significant variables in the game. Furthermore, speaking in a broader sense, Booker says, “I think everybody is feeling the pressure of the end season.”
A win against the Spurs may have catapulted the Suns to sixth place in the West. However, with an eighth-place finish, they continue to struggle with the prospect of losing their playoff chances. Their present status necessitates them to compete in the Play-in, allowing other teams to finish their season.
