Kevin Durant passes Kobe Bryant for fifth most 25+ point games in NBA history despite Suns lost 128-103 to Thunder

Kevin Durant led the Phoenix Suns in scoring in a 128-103 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night.

As a result, he eclipsed the late Kobe Bryant, a Los Angeles Lakers star, to become the fifth most successful player in league history. Durant and Bryant had done so in 692 games each before tonight.

LeBron James, the Lakers’ star, leads the pace with 932. The next player in front of Durant, NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, is fourth, having accomplished the feat 769 times.

Bradley Beal led the Suns with 15 points in their loss to Oklahoma City. Devin Booker contributed 14 points, while Grayson Allen had 13.

Phoenix had an inconsistent night overall, going 39-for-87 (44.8%) from the field and 13-for-41 (31.7%) from deep. The Thunder pressured the Suns into 14 turnovers.

In 74 games with Phoenix, Kevin Durant has averaged 27.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 6.7 rebounds. KD played for the Thunder for nine seasons (2007-16), including one year (2007-08) with the Seattle Supersonics before the team moved to Oklahoma City in 2008.

The Suns’ next game will be against the New Orleans Pelicans on April 1 at 5 p.m. PT.
