According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and forward Kevin Durant have been named to Team USA’s official roster for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
They’ll be joined by Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Celtics guard Jrue Holiday, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo, and Lakers center Anthony Davis.
That accounts for 11 of the 12 berths, and Wojnarowski speculates that Team USA may retain that spot available for the time being.
Booker and Durant won gold for USA Basketball at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with the latter also winning in 2012 (London) and 2016 (Rio). Both showed a desire in playing for Team USA during media day.
Booker made the fast trip from the NBA Finals to Tokyo in 2021, flying with Holiday and Khris Middleton just as the Olympics began. This year, the Americans begin group play on July 28, more than a month after the 2024 NBA Finals, which ended late June.
