The Phoenix Suns will meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, resulting in an interesting star showdown between Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant. While both teams have other stars and crucial players, many will be focused on the Durant-Edwards matchup.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green stated that Durant must accept the challenge of defending Edwards in order for the Suns to win the series.
“I think Phoenix will win the series,” Green stated. “They have too much attacking firepower. Here’s what needs to happen for Phoenix to win the series. At some point in this series, Kevin Durant will have to guard Anthony Edwards.”
Green added, “If Phoenix is going to have a chance at winning this series, at some point – may not be Game 1, may not be Game 2 or 3, but at some point in this series, Kevin Durant is going to have to say, ‘Alright, I’m going – and Bradley Beal is a good defender, Brad competes, but at some point, Kevin is going to have to take his length, his defensive tenacity when he wants to turn that up, and he’s gonna have to guard Anthony Edwards if they’re going to move forward.
