Mohamed Salah has just over a year left on his contract with Liverpool, and there has been interest from a club in Saudi Arabia offering £200 million to acquire the Egyptian star. Former Liverpool player Jose Enrique believes that this summer is the perfect time for Salah to leave Anfield, especially with the attention he is receiving from Saudi Arabia.
Salah had the opportunity to leave Liverpool last summer when he received significant interest from several top clubs in the Saudi Pro League. However, Liverpool rejected a £200 million offer for Salah earlier this season. Now, with Salah’s contract having just over a year remaining, Liverpool won’t have the chance to command such a large transfer fee.
If Salah stays at Liverpool, he will also be playing under a new manager next season following the announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s departure. This is why Jose Enrique believes it is the right time for Salah to leave Anfield.
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, the former Spanish Liverpool player said, “If the right offer comes, I think Mo Salah will leave because I think he genuinely tried to leave last summer. They made a £200 million offer for Salah last summer, and that is a serious offer!”
“When you receive an offer like that, it usually means there is an agreement between the player and the club. I think Mo Salah agreed to leave, and I believe he will end up in Saudi Arabia this summer.”
Salah has become an iconic player at Anfield since his arrival from AS Roma. The Egyptian forward has scored 209 goals for Liverpool, including 23 goals in the current season. His impressive goal-scoring ability has helped Liverpool win the Premier League and the Champions League.
If Salah departs, Enrique has considered some potential replacements for Liverpool, including players from the Premier League. He mentioned Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and Ebere Eze from Crystal Palace as potential options. Additionally, he suggested Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich as a feasible choice, as the player is currently facing difficulties with his contract at Bayern.
However, there is no clear replacement for Salah, and whether he leaves or not depends on the player’s decision and Liverpool’s stance. Salah has become an icon at Anfield and has scored crucial goals for the team.
