Sadio Mane has spent over £700,000 on new structures, including a hospital, school, post office, and gas station, in his native village of Bambali in Senegal.
Last week, Mane returned to Bambali to participate in a muddy football match alongside former Premier League stars Papiss Cisse and El-Hadji Diouf. Mane is expected to leave Anfield this summer to pursue new opportunities with Bayern Munich.
While in Senegal, the 30-year-old visited the hospital he funded for £455,000 last year, which serves 34 surrounding villages.
The generous forward, who has also constructed a £250,000 public secondary school in the village, is rapidly transforming Bambali, which now has a population of over 2,000 people, into a municipality.
He was captured on camera inaugurating a new gas station and has already pledged funds to construct a post office.
However, Mane’s generosity extends far beyond the financing of new construction.
The winger has provided €70 per month to each household in the village and offered €400 to the highest-achieving students at Bambali High School.
In addition, laptops were donated to the school, free sportswear was distributed to the children of the village, and 4G internet was implemented.
According to reports, Bayern have agreed personal terms with the Liverpool star, who will shortly sign a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena following a medical on Tuesday.
The transfer fee is estimated to be around £35.1M.
