Arne Slot has confirmed that he is awaiting the outcome of negotiations between Liverpool and Feyenoord before potentially taking the hot seat at Anfield.
“I want to become the new coach of Liverpool. My decision is very clear,” ESPN quoted Arne Slot as saying. “Feyenoord and Liverpool have been in talks. I am waiting to see what will happen.”
“I am confident and waiting for both sides to reach a final agreement,” asserted the 45-year-old coach.
Initially, “The Kop” had chosen Xabi Alonso, but the Spanish coach declared that he would not leave Bayer Leverkusen. Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon seems reluctant to leave his current team. Consequently, Liverpool has turned to Arne Slot.
Arne Slot is one of the rising coaches in Dutch football. He helped Feyenoord win the national championship in the 2022/23 season. Prior to that, under the guidance of the 45-year-old coach, the Dutch team reached the Conference League final.
This season, Feyenoord continues to impress by finishing second in the national league, trailing PSV Eindhoven by 9 points with three matches remaining. They also won the KNVB Cup.
Arne Slot is known for his style that resembles Jurgen Klopp, characterized by an explosive and wholehearted approach to football. His ability to elevate the team’s performance with a smaller budget than competing rivals is also one of his strengths.
Under Arne Slot’s guidance, Feyenoord plays an attacking brand of football with strong pressing in the opponent’s half, while also ensuring defensive solidity to aim for victory.
