The Minnesota Timberwolves are one game away from sweeping the Phoenix Suns after defeating them 126-109 on Friday night.
The Timberwolves controlled the series, winning the first three games by double digits. It’s also the first time in franchise history that Minnesota leads a series 3-0.
While the Wolves have been great, the Suns have not made much of a competitive effort. Minnesota has had its way with Phoenix, and their postseason run may come to an end sooner than the Suns would want.
Following the loss, fans chastised star forward Kevin Durant and the Suns for their poor performance in the first three games.
The Suns are on the verge of elimination after losing Game 3. To proceed to the second round, they would have to achieve something unprecedented: overturn a 3-0 deficit. That is a nearly impossible challenge, but it begins with Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal stepping up.
The Timberwolves definitely deserve credit for their performance. They demonstrated that they were the best team in the West throughout the regular season and have reinforced that argument even more in the first round.
Minnesota may not be a Finals contender just yet, but it is only one game away from its first postseason series victory since 2004.
The Timberwolves will aim to defeat the Suns in Game 4 on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
