The attire will be worn for the Reds’ first game under new manager Arne Slot the following season, which is set for May 19, Jurgen Klopp’s final home game against Wolves.
It’s said that the 1984 European Cup winning design (seen below) had an effect on the jersey. According to Liverpool FC, “the vintage kit design, reimagined for the contemporary game, showcases a chrome yellow pattern of the team’s YNWA motto, etched into the shirt’s fabric.”
The jersey has a unique collar that is reminiscent of the iconic collar the 1984 squad wore, complete with classic yellow and red stitching. There are side panels in white and yellow on the shorts and top.
The 97 insignia, embossed in eternal flames on the jersey’s back, proudly rests at the nape of the neck in memory of those who were wrongfully slain in the Hillsborough disaster.
Pre-orders for the new kit can be placed on the official LFC website, in official LFC stores in the UK and abroad, and via the LFC Retail App. Delivery of the kit will start on May 16, the day of launch.
Captain Virgil van Dijk said of the new gear, “I like how intricate it is.” It’s unique to have You’ll Never Walk Alone on it; it proudly adorns the uniform and symbolizes the club’s culture.
