CHELSEA paid a record fee of £98 million to buy Mykhailo Mudryk, with the Ukrainian’s speed seen as one of his most valuable attributes.
Yet, he is NOT the Premier League’s quickest man, with that honor going to a lesser-known player.
Mudryk set a Premier League speed record on his debut against Liverpool
The international came to Stamford Bridge in January and wasted little time demonstrating his speed.
Although playing just 20 minutes, he established a Premier League record for the quickest speed this season on his debut against Liverpool.
According to Squawka, Mudryk, 22, clocked in at 36.3km/h, topping Anthony Gordon’s previous best speed by 0.2.
Nevertheless, the winger has been surpassed by Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson, who has a high speed of 36.7km/h.
Johnson is a rookie in the Premier League after being promoted with Forest last season, but he has already made an impression with seven goals in 27 outings.
At a pace of 35.99km/h, Kieran Tierney is the only defender to enter the top ten list.
He narrowly edges out Arsenal teammate Gabriel Martinelli for eighth position, indicating that the Gunners have the quickest left wing in the Premier League.
Marcus Rashford of Manchester United is the fourth British player on the list, closing out the top 10 with a pace of 35.81km/h.
The remainder of the list consists of players who joined the Premier League last summer.
Darwin Nunez of Liverpool is fourth, just ahead of Wolves star Matheus Nunes.
Erling Haaland, the Prem’s highest scorer, sits sixth with a speed of 36.22km/h.
Chelsea also has another player in the top 10, loan midfielder Dennis Zakaria, who has been plagued by injuries this season.
Johnson has subsequently surpassed Mudryk to take the top slot
Striker Darwin Nunez attended Liverpool’s latest training session and brightened hopes of being able to face Man City in time. However, the case of Thiago upsets coaches Klopp.
During Thursday’s practice session, Nunez showed up and still managed to swallow the lesson plan. The 23-year-old striker suffered an ankle injury in the defeat against Real Madrid, thereby missing the last focus session with Uruguay. Initially, there was a lot of information that the former Benfica player only returned in mid-April, but the treatment process had p/o/s/i/t/i/v/e results.
Nunez can attend the match against Man City, even if only as a substitute. This is still p/o/s/i/t/i/v/e news for Liverpool because they need Nunez’s speed in the left corridor. This season, Nunez has scored 14 goals and contributed 4 assists.
Along with that, Luis Diaz – a long-term patient of Liverpool, also returned this Tuesday. A knee injury has kept Diaz out of action since October last year. Fans are waiting for the “trident” of Diaz, Gakpo, and Salah to cause many difficulties for Man City’s defense.
However, Thiago will not be able to play with his teammates at Etihad. He is still recovering from a persistent hip injury. Experts predict that the midfield three of The Reds in tomorrow’s match will include Fabinho, Henderson, and Elliot.
