Liverpool star Darwin Nunez was spotted taking his family to Barcelona for a holiday and reunited with Uruguay team-mate Ronald Araujo amid reports linking him with a move to the Spanish giants

Darwin Nunez has uploaded a photo of himself smiling with a Barcelona player as his future at Liverpool remains uncertain.

Nunez has been dissatisfied with his stay at Liverpool in recent times, storming off the pitch at Anfield at the end of his team’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

He later erased all Liverpool-related content from his Instagram feed, a perplexing move following his team’s vital victory.

While the reasons for his dissatisfaction are unknown, he has been linked with a transfer away from the club barely two years into a time fraught with unfulfilled potential since his £85 million signing from Benfica.

On Tuesday, he continued to fuel speculation by posing with Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo on his still-Liverpool-less Instagram.

Darwin Nunez was all smiles while posing with Barcelona star Ronald Araujo on Instagram.

Nunez, who plays alongside Araujo for the Uruguay national team, smiled as he posed in sunglasses and a cap.

Nunez has been linked with a move to Barcelona as a summer Anfield exit becomes increasingly likely, with the Spanish club apparently eyeing him as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski, 35, still has two years left on his current contract, but Barcelona is expected to try to move him in the summer to comply with a £175 million pay ceiling established by LaLiga earlier this season.

According to The Sun, Barcelona believes Nunez is capable of taking on the role and is willing to match Liverpool’s asking price for the Uruguayan forward.

Nunez is one of Liverpool’s highest-paid players, but his pay – thought to be approximately £140,000 per week – are much lower than Lewandowski’s current salary.

According to reports earlier this month, Liverpool’s recruitment team preferred a move for Christopher Nkunku over signing the former Benfica star, and Jurgen Klopp eventually persuaded them to agree to a club-record £85 million deal.

The Uruguayan striker has removed all Liverpool-related photographs from his Instagram feed.

He has also been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Ian Ladyman of Mail Sport questioned Nunez’s recent actions on It’s All Kicking Off!

He answered, ‘I can’t imagine why he would be disappointed with life in Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has been supportive of him throughout his first few seasons. You and I have talked a lot about him over the last few seasons.

‘I am a tremendous fan of his. I believe you [co-host Chris Sutton] appreciate him as well. We are aware of his game’s flaws. He strikes the frame with a goal, the post, and the bar with more force and venom than any other player we’ve seen.
