Liverpool continues its trend of signing the offspring of former Premier League players, and the latest addition is Keyrol Figueroa. The 17-year-old, son of former Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa, has officially signed his first professional contract with the club. Figueroa has been a part of Liverpool’s youth system for a number of years and has displayed immense potential.
At the U14 level, he impressively scored 90 goals in a single season, showcasing his scoring abilities. His outstanding performances have rightfully earned him a professional contract, and he is determined to follow in his father’s footsteps. Additionally, Figueroa has represented the United States at the youth level, playing a crucial role in their journey to the final of the CONCACAF U17 Championship and featuring in the U17 World Cup. 
Despite a loss to Germany in the last 16, Figueroa demonstrated his skills on the international stage. Recently, he made a successful comeback from injury and scored a goal for Liverpool’s U18 team in a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. His next goal is to progress to the U21 team, as Liverpool has shown a commitment to nurturing young players in recent years. 
The Figueroa family continues to leave a mark in football, with Keyrol aspiring to carry on his father’s legacy while making a name for himself at Liverpool.
Liverpool already has several sons of former Premier League players in their ranks. Lewis Koumas, Jayden Danns, and Bobby Clark, whose fathers had successful careers in the league, have all featured for the club this season. It was Danns and Clark who came on as substitutes in the Carabao Cup final victory against Chelsea.
While Figueroa has shown a keen eye for goal, his father Maynor was known more for his defensive abilities during his playing career. Maynor represented Wigan Athletic and Hull City in the Premier League, making over 200 appearances. However, he did score a memorable long-range free-kick goal from his own half against Stoke City, which drew praise from his manager Roberto Martinez for its technicality and audacity.
