Liverpool Captain Virgil van Dijk and Vivendii collaborate on a special Afrobeats-inspired fashion offering

JBL and Vivendii are creating a special Afrobeats-themed apparel collection. Vivendii’s Afrobeats Capsule Collection merges its unique gradient, tie-dye-inspired aesthetic with JBL’s colorful, eye-catching hues. It is based on traditional Nigerian plastic buckets and bowls, as well as JBL’s signature orange.

The collection includes a t-shirt, tracksuit, jacket, and backpack, as well as a striped football jersey inspired by Virgil van Dijk and the emerging trend of personalized jerseys. Special editions of some of JBL’s most popular products, such as the JBL PartyBox 310 and JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi, are available in eye-catching colors that suit the garment line designs.

Why has there been such a large drop? “Music and fashion are inextricably linked.” Afrobeats allows young people to freely express themselves, therefore exploring its music and clothing with our ambassador and Afrobeats lover, Virgil van Dijk, was a thrilling experience for us. The Vivendii team’s work promotes self-expression while elevating the voices of sub-genres and civilizations. This closely aligns with JBL’s beliefs, making this collaboration a great fit.” Robert-Jan van Dormael is HARMAN’s Vice President of Integrated Marketing in EMEA.

“It’s all about the way people express themselves,” Jimmy Ayeni of Vivendii stated. “Every collection we’ve designed has a soundtrack, and this collaboration with JBL is no exception.” “We try to incorporate our musical expressions into fashion.”

In this short film, Van Dijk is accompanied by Vivendii founders Jimmy Ayeni and Ola Badiru as they explore the world of Afrobeats, as well as Dutch vocalist Amartey and Nigerian artist Deto Black, who help Virgil delve deeper into the genre.
