With Arne Slot now confirmed as Liverpool’s next head coach, attention is turning to the summer transfer market. Already, reports suggest the Dutchman is having an impact on the Reds’ ambitions.
The club revealed Slot’s appointment on Monday, naming the 45-year-old to replace Jürgen Klopp. Along with new sporting director Richard Hughes, he will undoubtedly have a busy summer as he prepares for his debut season in command.
Slot will have to make some important decisions about his new squad, especially since Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in their final year of contracts. As he attempts to build on Klopp’s success, he will also need to bring in some new players.
Pep Lijnders wants to ‘immediately’ take Liverpool players with him to new clubs.

With the transfer window about to begin, Liverpool has already been connected with a number of players who might join Slot in making the move to Merseyside. One of them will be quite recognizable to the former Feyenoord manager.
According to Turkish website Fotospor, Liverpool is interested in signing Benfica midfielder Orkun Kökçü. According to the story, the Reds arrived out of nowhere, with Slot anxious to reunite with his former player at Anfield.
The pair previously worked together at Feyenoord, with Kökçü leading the Rotterdam club to the Eredivisie title last season before departing for Portugal in the summer. Fotospor also hints that Beşiktaş is interested, as a Turkish director recently saw Kökçü in action.
The 23-year-old has seven goals and 11 assists in Portugal this season. Kökçü has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, but a rumored release clause of roughly $163 million (£128 million/€150 million) might be a huge roadblock.
