Liverpool’s leadership is preparing to make an offer to acquire Ollie Watkins in order to bolster the attacking firepower for Arne Slot’s team in the upcoming season. Watkins, fresh from a successful campaign with Aston Villa, netting 19 goals in the Premier League to secure a spot in the 2024/25 Champions League.
SunSport reveals that Arne Slot admires Watkins greatly and aims to bring the English forward to Anfield to lead the frontline.
Should Liverpool secure Watkins’ signature, they will likely offload Darwin Nunez – a highly-priced signing made by Jurgen Klopp nearly two years ago.
Nunez struggled to find form in the final 10 matches of the season with The Kop, raising doubts about his capabilities, particularly in finishing.
The Uruguayan striker ended the 2023/24 season with 11 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League. Currently, Darwin Nunez is attracting interest from Barcelona.
