As the former Liverpool manager gets ready to move into a £3.4M eco-villa, Jurgen Klopp talks about his new life in Majorca

On the lovely Spanish island of Majorca, Jurgen Klopp has given an idea of what his retirement might entail, but the former Liverpool manager is far from done with managing.

The 56-year-old German intends to turn the £3.4 million property he purchased on the Balearic island into “an ecological family paradise.”

Considering that he had admitted to leaving Liverpool because he was “running out of energy,” it would be the ideal location for him to relax with wife Ulla and family.

Klopp's wife Ulla has reportedly been overseeing the renovation of the villa

‘I’ve dreamed of having a house in the south all my life,’ Klopp said on the podcast Willipedia via Bild when asked why he was drawn to Majorca. I enjoy the people, the environment, and the weather.

This place has a lot of things I like and people I know.” It’s not as though I’m trying to make new friends. I already have lifelong pals, so it’s great if some of them are also present.

Expanding on why he feels so at home on the Spanish island, Klopp said: ‘I don’t want to emigrate. We go on holiday here every now and then.

However, I want everything to be exactly as I know it when I’m here.

“That sounds extremely dull, but the main idea is that I want to experience a different kind of life—not one that takes place in a mountain or a jungle.”

‘We’re getting older and the medical care here is fantastic,’ he continued, hinting to the day when he will eventually step down from management.

“There are a lot of doctors in Germany, and when the issues get worse, I want to be able to express myself verbally and emotionally.”

‘It’s out of the question that I’ll stop working totally,’ said Klopp, adding that he takes a vacation from football to refuel.

“However, I don’t see myself going forward at the same rate as before right now.”

For £3.4 million, Klopp bought the 5,000-square-meter house in Majorcan in June 2022 from Swiss businessman and artist Rolf Knie. Klopp then chose to restore the entire property.

The two systems, which handle all electrical appliances and equipment through a phone app, are managed by a computer to guarantee that the temperature inside the house stays constant regardless of the outside weather.

Up to 75% less electricity is supposed to be used with this setup.

Klopp said: ‘If you organise a bus parade I’m in. How long it takes, I don’t care how long.’
