Despite continuous failures in their attempts to recruit Mohamed Salah, Saudi Pro League teams still persist in pursuing other stars from Liverpool.
Saudi Pro League clubs are gearing up to “attack” Liverpool after identifying Luis Diaz and Joe Gomez as transfer targets this summer.
With Jurgen Klopp’s departure, Liverpool fans hope that Arne Slot can usher in a new era of success at Anfield. And certainly, the first step in the Dutch manager’s plan is to make personnel changes.
Mohamed Salah seems inclined to stay with Liverpool despite offers from the Middle East. However, nothing is certain, as other stars from The Kop share similar sentiments.
According to British media, both Diaz and Gomez are targets for the Saudi Pro League. Both players are also believed to be ready to leave Anfield due to Klopp’s departure.
Diaz (27 years old) joined the “Reds” from Porto in a £37.5 million deal in January 2022. Meanwhile, Gomez, who has just had an outstanding season, has been at Anfield since 2015. In fact, Saudi Arabian clubs have targeted these two players since last summer but were rejected by Liverpool.
Clubs in the Saudi Pro League were closely linked with Salah last summer, and Al-Ittihad even made a mega offer of £150 million. However, Liverpool turned down this proposal, despite the Saudi Pro League’s continued interest.
Salah has one year left on his contract at Anfield and still has to wait to see the progress of renewal negotiations. Although not confirmed, the Egyptian striker has hinted at the possibility of staying at Liverpool in a social media post.
“We know that trophies are important, and we will do everything we can to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it, and we will fight for it,” Salah’s post quoted.
