Liverpool have received a number of major transfer updates, with Arne Slot hoping to welcome his first signing soon. However, it is apparent that the ongoing European championships are influencing the transfer plans of many teams for a variety of reasons.
For starters, certain important players are at the tournament and thus are not primarily concerned with their club’s future, but this has created opportunities to shine in a variety of transfer tryouts. Nico Williams, Xavi Simons, and Jamal Musiala have all demonstrated their abilities, and Liverpool has been connected with all three as a result.
The issue lies in actually agreeing on a deal for any of the trio, with Williams having recently signed a new contract at Athletic Bilbao and Simons appearing to be part of Paris Saint-Germain’s long-term ambitions. The Reds will be hoping to sign Musiala after he rejected a new deal with Bayern Munich earlier this year.
Given Musiala’s age and unquestionable talent, the German club has set a lofty asking price of £100 million. However, everything appears to lead to the 21-year-old eventually returning to England after leaving Chelsea in 2019.
With that in mind, sources from the Daily Mirror suggest that Liverpool is keeping an eye on Musiala. Given that he has already scored two goals for Germany at Euro 2024, it is reasonable to expect that they will be satisfied with his performances, with a move being considered once the tournament concludes.
Meanwhile, with Slot likely seeking for huge market chances, Liverpool has inquired about the prospect of a free transfer for Adrien Rabiot, according to Sportitalia. The France international’s contract at Juventus expires this summer, with no hint that he would sign a new agreement.
Rabiot has come close to joining the Premier League on several occasions, with Manchester United turning him down twice. However, the Reds may see it as an excellent opportunity to get an established player, with the likelihood that he will accept the transfer based on his previous statements about Liverpool.
In June 2023, he stated that he loved Liverpool because of Steven Gerrard, who inspired him to dream. And so I followed the Reds.”
