After Liverpool’s match with Arsenal is over, assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis seemed to elbow Andy Robertson; the PGMOL will look into the incident.
The PGMOL has acknowledged that it is aware of the altercation between Andy Robertson and Constantine Hatzidakis and that it will investigate the situation after Liverpool’s match against Arsenal.
PGMOL is aware of an incident involving assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson during halftime of the Liverpool vs. Arsenal game at Anfield, according to a statement from the organization. After the game is over, we will fully review the situation.
Just as referee Paul Tierney blew the halftime horn, linesman Hatzidakis was approaching him while toting the ball. Robertson, a star for the Reds, approached Hatzidakis and looked to grasp him as he crossed the field.
However, Hatzidakis responded violently to that and looked to move his elbow back in Robertson’s direction. The three match officials were surrounded by Liverpool players as they tried to leave the field, which infuriated the Scotland captain.
Hatzidakis and Tierney were argued with by Robertson, Diogo Jota, and Reds captain Jordan Henderson as they left the field. To the chagrin of Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, and Jota, Tierney then issued a booking to the Liverpool left-back.
The four were eventually taken out of the area by a Liverpool coaching staff member. The first sign of what had happened came from Liverpool great and Sky co-commentator Jamie Carragher, who tweeted: “Linesman elbow on Robertson!”
Reporter Geoff Shreeves for Sky Sports claims that Robertson was enraged as he entered the tunnel. He stated the Scot remarked, “The linesman just elbowed me in the throat, he’s done it.”
Roy Keane criticized the Liverpool star during halftime, despite the ꜰᴀᴄᴛ that Robertson seemed to be the victim of the affair. The left-back was called a “big baby” by the accuser.
What do you know? Is the linesman the one he grabs first? I’m not sure, but Robertson starts whining at that point. He ought to be more concerned with his defense. Are you familiar with that Robertson? told Sky Sports, Keane.
“I’ve watched him a lot; he’s a big baby,” I said. That person embodies that. Just pay attention to the game and begin your defense. The linesman is the one he grabs first.
An exciting tie between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield quickly rose to the status of a classic. Gabriel Martinelli gave the Gunners an early lead, and the winger later turned provider, setting up Gabriel Jesus for the team’s second goal.
Mohamed Salah quickly pulled a goal back as the game was ignited by an incident involving Granit Xhaka. Aaron Ramsdale, the goalkeeper for Arsenal, made a series of incredible saves to preserve a point after Roberto Firmino’s late equalizer.
Arsenal’s Xhaka ‘lucky not to get red card’ for moment of madness vs Liverpool as Carragher asks ‘what was he THINKING?’
FANS were in sʜᴏᴄᴋ. Despite engaging in a heated argument with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Granit Xhaka did not receive a warning.
On Sunday at Anfield, Arsenal defeated Liverpool 2-0 after just 30 minutes.
And just before the half, Ibrahima Konate shoved Xhaka, setting off a furious tantrum.
The 30-year-old Swiss midfielder was pushed to the ground by the Liverpool center-back but was not given a free ᴋɪᴄᴋ.
After being denied the foul, Xhaka stood back up and charged Alexander-Arnold, who was in possession of the ball.
The Liverpool full-back was then elbowed by him as he squared up to him and ᴛʜʀᴜsᴛ his head directly into Alexander-Arnold’s face.
Reacting to the incident, Reds legend Jamie Carragher slammed Xhaka’s actions.
He said: “What was he thinking though? It’s ridiculous.”
And those on social media felt the Arsenal man was lucky to avoid a sending off.
One replied: “Xhaka should have seen the red card.”
