Liverpool’s star defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has indicated his desire to remain with the club for the upcoming season despite interest from Real Madrid. With just a year left on his current contract, the Spanish giants have been eyeing a move this summer, but Alexander-Arnold has made it clear he intends to stay at Anfield.
According to reports from The Sun, the 25-year-old is fully committed to playing under Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, who marks a significant change in his senior career. Alexander-Arnold has already engaged in discussions with Slot and is eager to begin the new season under his guidance.
Liverpool is also keen to secure Alexander-Arnold’s future, with plans to offer him a substantial new contract. A source mentioned by The Sun emphasized the club’s admiration for the player and their determination to retain him long-term: “Everyone at the club has huge admiration for Trent and will be doing whatever it takes to keep him. He’s still got so much more to give.”
Despite being left out of Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the USA, Alexander-Arnold’s absence is unrelated to transfer speculation. Instead, he has been granted an extended holiday following his participation in Euro 2024 with England, expected to return in August.
During his absence, Liverpool will face Real Betis, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Sevilla in their pre-season preparations before their season opener against Ipswich at Portman Road next month.
