Although Dominik Szoboszlai has made an impressive start at Liverpool, some fans have humorously suggested they want him “sold immediately” after seeing his unusual ‘flump laces’.
Szoboszlai, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig this summer as part of a midfield overhaul that also saw Alexis Mac Allister transfer from Brighton, has been a regular starter for the Reds this season. Liverpool is currently leading the Premier League following a thrilling 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace last week. Despite his strong performances, some fans on social media were taken aback by his choice of footwear as he boarded Liverpool’s flight to Belgium for their Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise.
Wearing Liverpool training gear, Szoboszlai appeared relaxed and posed for photos before boarding the plane. However, his all-white Nike Air Force 1s drew attention for their unusually bulky ‘flump’ marshmallow-like laces. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment on his footwear, with one jokingly suggesting he should be sold immediately. Other reactions included remarks about the laces resembling sweets or being sturdy enough to secure a barge.
Despite the playful criticism, there’s no concern about Szoboszlai leaving Liverpool anytime soon. He signed a five-year contract in the summer and has quickly adapted to the Premier League. He will be looking to maintain his good form as Liverpool prepares to face Manchester United at Anfield this Sunday.
