According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal is well-positioned to sign Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer. The 29-year-old is currently a free agent this summer after his contract with Juventus expired. The midfielder, who has been a rumored target for Manchester United in various transfer windows, is now available on the market following his five-year stint with Juventus ending in June.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Arsenal is among the top three contenders for Rabiot’s signature. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are also interested in Rabiot, who made five appearances for France at Euro 2024. AC Milan has considered making a move but is prioritizing the acquisition of Youssouf Fofana from Monaco.
Rabiot is represented by his mother, Veronique, who confirmed that her son is attracting interest from several clubs. She said, “Yes, I am talking to several clubs. And I am the only point of contact. In fact, I am in discussions with several clubs, but some media outlets are attributing contacts with other teams that I am not speaking with. So, it seems that others are speaking for me. But since Adrien started his career, I have been the only one communicating with clubs, and if any club is interested, they must speak directly with me.”
Arsenal is also reported to have agreed to a €30 million deal with Real Sociedad for Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino. It is believed that the 28-year-old, who is also being watched by Barcelona, has spoken with Mikel Arteta and agreed to join the Gunners this summer.
