Liverpool have entered the competition to sign England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer. According to The Sun, the Reds are aiming to strengthen their defense and are now contenders to acquire Guehi, who is expected to cost around £75 million (€89 million). However, they will face competition from Newcastle United for the English centre-back.
In addition to Guehi, Liverpool is also eyeing Newcastle’s rising star, Anthony Gordon. Reports suggest that Liverpool is prepared to offer Joe Gomez in exchange for Gordon. Meanwhile, Newcastle is reportedly considering Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, who has a £60 million (€71 million) release clause, as a potential replacement if Gordon leaves.
After investing nearly £100 million last summer on midfielders such as Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool has not yet made any new signings in this transfer window. They have, however, let go of players like Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara.
Following a successful tour of the United States, highlighted by a notable victory over Manchester United, Liverpool will conclude their pre-season with a friendly match against Sevilla at Anfield on August 11.
