Klopp’s priceless reaction to Salah’s penalty miss breaks the internet

Unintentionally, Jurgen Klopp applauded Mo Salah’s missed penalty against Arsenal on Sunday.

After the Gunners sailed to a 2-0 lead inside the first 30 minutes of the match at Anfield, the Reds stormed back into the contest.

Jurgen Klopp thought the penalty had been scored by Mo Salah.

But as Klopp turned around he realised the spot ᴋɪᴄᴋ had been put wide.

Before the interval, Salah restored parity, and Liverpool’s pressure persisted into the second period.

And when Rob Holding’s challenge on Diogo Jota resulted in a penalty, the hosts were given a fantastic chance to tie the game.

However, manager Klopp was unable to see the penalty ᴋɪᴄᴋ because he turned away and depended on the noise of the fans.

As the Arsenal supporters went berserk, Salah stepped up and missed his penalty shot.

Sadly for Klopp, he mistook the cheers for the home crowd for those of the visiting supporters.

He pumped his fist in celebration as he turned back to the action because he thought the penalty had been scored.

Then, when he realized Salah had rolled it wide, Klopp was forced to awkwardly observe.

On social media, the Liverpool manager was made fun of after the hilarious event.

“Klopp thought salah scored,” one person stated.

“JURGEN KLOPP TRIED TO NO LOOK THE PEN FOR A COMP AND SALAH MISSED – I’M IN TEARS,” a another person remarked.

Another said, “I’m crying,” while a third said, “Klopp turned his back on Salah’s penalty and was trying to be cold.”

Salah’s missed penalty comes just a few weeks after he missed one while playing for Liverpool against Bournemouth.

Late in the game, Liverpool’s substitute Roberto Firmino did manage to tie the score. However, a frantic end nearly saw both teams claim all three points.

Jurgen Klopp breaks silence on linesman’s ‘elbow’ on Andy Robertson during Liverpool’s draw with Arsenal

Andy Robertson appeared to have been elbowed by the assistant referee during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal, and Klopp has responded.

The Scot received a yellow card from referee Paul Tierney for his complaints AFTER blowing for halftime.

Assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis appeared to elbow Andy Robertson.

Robertson was furious as he seemed to suggest the assistant referee had elbowed him.

Jurgen Klopp gave his take on the Robertson incident.

The Liverpool players then surrounded the official, including an irate Robertson, 29.

And Jamie Carragher, who was providing analysis for Sky Sports, swiftly asserted that assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis “elbowed” a hysterical Robertson.

“Linesman elbow on Robertson,” he tweeted.

Now, Liverpool’s head coach Klopp has commented on the peculiar occurrence.

When asked about the incident in an interview with Sky Sports, he replied, “Nothing. Despite knowing that took place, I didn’t watch.

The images will speak for themselves if it actually occurred. Nothing else is left for me to sᴀʏ about it.

After exchanging angry words with Reds captain Jordan Henderson, who raised his teammate’s case, the officials were booed off by the fans.

As Robertson approached the tunnel, according to Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves, he was enraged and accused the official of “elbowing him in the throat.”

“PGMOL is aware of an incident involving assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at halftime during the Liverpool vs. Arsenal game at Anfield,” the PGMOL said in a statement.

“After the game is over, we will fully review the situation.”

However, Roy Keane had a ɴᴇɢᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ opinion of Robertson, referring to him as a “big baby,” and advising him to “concentrate on his defending.”

He should be more concerned with his defense, the Irishman yelled. Do you recognize him? I’ve seen that Robertson quite a few times. The baby is large. That person is what he is.

Liverpool rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Arsenal 2-2 on Sunday.

On Merseyside, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus gave the Gunners the upper hand.

Before the break, Mo Salah restored parity, but missed a subsequent penalty.

However, the home team did manage to tie things up in the end thanks to Roberto Firmino.

In a nail-biting conclusion, Liverpool pushed for a winner as Aaron Ramsdale made a superb stop to deny Salah and then blocked from Ibrahima Konate with seconds left.

Klopp remarked, in response to the entire match, “A bit typical for us this season. They score in the first and second situations, making the game completely open.

“Our reaction was good. It was a spectacular game in the end. How we didn’t win it with those late chances I don’t know.

“I’m caught in between [being happy and not]. I have no problems with drawing. Arsenal were good but they could and should have lost this game. The point for them is better.

“We had moments and chances where we didn’t finish the situations off. Slightly typical.

“They’re flying so they score with their first chance. The goal we scored helped massively. At half-time it wasn’t over. It was a sensational atmosphere. Good moment to get the equaliser.

“All of a sᴜᴅᴅᴇɴ we were in charge of a wild game. We deserved at least a point. If Ibou [Konate] uses his head [for a late chance] it’s a goal. Maybe he slipped. He had a chance, it was just there.”
