Artist Jordan Dawson personalized Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez’s Nike football boots by incorporating the Uruguayan flag.
Fans of Liverpool might have noticed the custom boots that Nunez, a Nike athlete, has been wearing this season. To make a statement on the field during his debut season at Anfield, Nunez commissioned Dawson, who is also known for designing boots for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, to add a unique Uruguayan flag design to his black-out boots. Dawson personally delivered the customized footwear to Nunez’s home in Liverpool.
Despite facing challenges on the pitch following his high-profile transfer from Benfica to Liverpool, Nunez has begun making an impact against opposing defenses.
Dawson shared with TalkSPORT his experience of delivering the boots: “I gave the boots to Nunez, and since then, he hasn’t stopped scoring, even though he struggled initially.”
He added, “Players often receive custom items, but this is something more personal. It lets them showcase their individuality through their gear. When I visited Nunez, he kissed the Uruguayan flag on the boots. It was clear how much it meant to him. Even though his English isn’t great and communication was a bit challenging, his reaction spoke volumes. Seeing the joy on his face when he held the boots was an unforgettable experience.”
