Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2023-24 season. This marks the fourth time Van Dijk has been included in the annual XI since joining Liverpool in January 2018, having previously been selected in 2019, 2020, and 2022. Last season, the Netherlands skipper made 36 league appearances, scored two goals, and helped Liverpool secure a third-place finish in the Premier League, which ensured their return to Champions League football. Additionally, Van Dijk scored the winning goal in extra-time to secure Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final in February. His inclusion in the latest Team of the Year was announced at the 2024 PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester.
