After Manchester United’s interest waned, Adrien Rabiot has attracted significant attention from Liverpool, who have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer window of 2024.
Rabiot is currently a free agent after declining a contract extension with Juventus earlier this summer. Last month, Manchester United had plans to negotiate with the French midfielder, but they pulled out to focus on the Manuel Ugarte deal. Both Inter Milan and Bayern Munich have also reached out to Rabiot but have yet to make concrete offers. Now, Liverpool has entered the race to sign the 29-year-old.
According to Get Football News France, Liverpool is targeting Rabiot as new manager Arne Slot aims to strengthen the midfield. The Merseyside club has had a quiet summer, failing to secure any top-quality signings as some targets slipped away.
Liverpool recently missed out on Martin Zubimendi, even though they were prepared to pay the Spanish international’s release clause. Zubimendi chose to stay with Real Sociedad, having been the Euro 2024 champion.
Regarding Rabiot, Liverpool is under no immediate pressure to finalize the deal before the summer transfer window closes in early September since the midfielder remains a free agent. However, the challenge lies in meeting Rabiot’s financial demands. To secure his services, Liverpool would need to offer a contract of at least four years with a salary exceeding £200,000 per week.
