JBL and Vivendii are set to release a unique fashion collection celebrating the vibrant world of Afrobeats. The Afrobeats Capsule Collection, designed by Vivendii, merges their signature gradient and tie-dye aesthetics with JBL’s vivid, striking colors. Drawing inspiration from traditional Nigerian plastic buckets and bowls, as well as JBL’s iconic orange hue, the collection blends cultural elements with bold design.
The range includes essential streetwear items such as a t-shirt, tracksuit, jacket, and bag, with a striped football jersey included to honor Virgil van Dijk and the trend of customized jerseys. Complementing these pieces are special edition versions of some of JBL’s top products, like the JBL PartyBox 310 and JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi.
Why this collaboration? “Music and fashion are deeply interconnected. Afrobeats empowers self-expression, and collaborating with our ambassador and Afrobeats enthusiast, Virgil van Dijk, has been thrilling for us. Vivendii’s work promotes individuality and highlights various sub-genres and cultures, which aligns perfectly with JBL’s values,” explained Robert-Jan van Dormael, Vice President Integrated Marketing EMEA at HARMAN.
Jimmy Ayeni from Vivendii added, “Our collections always come with a musical backdrop, and this partnership with JBL is no exception. We aim to connect our fashion with our musical expressions.”
In a short film showcasing the collaboration, Van Dijk, Vivendii founders Jimmy Ayeni and Ola Badiru, Dutch artist Amartey, and Nigerian artist Deto Black explore the rich world of Afrobeats, delving deeper into the genre.
