Barcelona has made a dramatic offer for Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, aiming to complete one final transfer before Friday’s deadline.
With the transfer window closing in two days, Liverpool has received an eye-catching loan proposal from the La Liga giants for the young Spanish talent. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona’s offer involves a loan deal with a fee of $4.4 million (£3.4 million/€4 million), but there is no option to buy included in the current terms.
Liverpool’s options in the defensive midfield position are limited, and they have been considering the possibility of allowing the 19-year-old Bajcetic to go out on loan this summer. After missing most of last season due to injury, Bajcetic has been working on his fitness but has struggled for playing time under new manager Arne Slot during pre-season.
While Red Bull Salzburg has shown strong interest, hoping to rejoin with Bajcetic through former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, Barcelona is now making a late push to secure his services. Additionally, several Spanish clubs, including Bajcetic’s former team Celta Vigo, have expressed interest in a season-long loan. Celta Vigo’s coach, Claudio Giralde, recently mentioned that a return for Bajcetic was a “possibility.”
Given his promising performances during Liverpool’s injury crisis in the 2022-23 season, it’s no surprise that Bajcetic has attracted significant interest.
